Today i am traveling back to my hometown for Easter, so ill be away for the next few days. At least i found the time to finish "Countryside" before leaving! You can find more about it in the 3d Portfolio section. Here is a quoted part of my description about my latest work. What are your thoughts on this? Full resolution Countryside here Many 3d artists tend to overuse reinhard tone mapping nowadays because they want to showcase the detail of their work both in highlight and lowlight area of their render (often pressured by their clients) thus resulting in a kind of hdr look on their final renders. Even though that surely looks impressive it takes away a lot from the photo-realism as well as from the composition of the render. In countryside i decided to post process with a photographic approach in mind. So i didn't fix the burned sun disc and i left it as it was in the hdri image. Also i decided not to lighten up the ground even though there was a lot of beautiful detail in there. For those of you who follow me on twitter you already know that on 21st of march my army duty started.
Though because of some health issues with my heart i had some years ago, and the fact that i am quite a stressful guy when living outside of my comfort zone they evaluated me and decided that i am not capable to serve the army at the moment and that they will re-evaluate me in 6 months. The good thing about it is that i wont have to spend 9 months of my live away from my interests. I am now able to refocus on my art, freelance work and my university exams. The bad thing is that i am now homeless, lol, since i had left my previous house, and that i had informed my clients that i would be away for the rest of the year! So pretty busy weeks ahead of me to get back on track! P.S. For any art project, work or just to say hello don't forget to contact A 3d wallpaper i made inspired by game of thrones. The banners used are made by Thomas Gateley and you can find them on his flickr page. The scene was put together in 3dsMax and transfered to softimage to render with arnold. The snowflakes were added in photoshop later.
You can download the full 2560x1440 from my dropbox by pressing here. I have the chance of testing arnold renderer for softimage, and i have to say i like it a lot so far!
Full brute force renderer, quite easy to customize and very quick if you know what your doing. Here is a test render i did. I transfered the scene from 3ds Max to Softimage with "send to softimage command" though i had some issues with triangulation of polys so i used regular fbx (and obj. for the chair asset) file formats. The material setup for arnold seems a lot straightforward, and the lighting also. This one uses a quad spot light for the moonlight, one small cylindrical light to fill the chair a bit, and volumetric shader on environment. Also there is displacement on the wall. The original render took less than 30 minutes on my old i7 920 cpu, and it was noise free even though the lighting was quite dim. Film grain, some color correction and bloom added later on photoshop. Cgarena asked us to make a tutorial on Ghost House. The tutorial is now available on free pdf magazine of cgarena!
Check it out here Hi everyone ;) I decided to add a blog to my website so as to be able to inform you about my latest scripts/projects and get feedback during the development. After publishing online the bookscatter script , i saw in many websites that people were also interested in the other scripts here (even though they are really premature). I saw special interest in the material randomizer script, so i decided to work on that a bit. In the new version i am working on, you can also randomize the material textures, like the tiling, angle, blur and i have some ideas for the hue/saturation etc by adding a color correction map on top. The results so far look amazing as you can see on the image bellow in which all objects use the same textures but are randomized enough so that you can not really tell. The setting that generated these materials are the one on the script screenshot above. Possible usage of this in floor tiles, object instances, pretty much anywhere you want material randomization! In the first edition that will come out in some days only V-Ray will be supported, but if i get enough feedback from other renderer's users i will try to add some more :) |
